The Great Get Together SE1 2024

Living Bankside was pleased to host, once again, this year’s Great Get Together in SE1 on Saturday 22 June 2024 which is part of the UK’s annual celebration of everything that unites our communities, inspired by the late Jo Cox MP’s belief that we have more in common than that which divides us.

The need to celebrate unity and reject division is as relevant now as it was when the first Great Get Together took place in 2017. This June, on what would have been Jo’s 50th birthday, we hope her message continues to inspire our communities to bring people together.

This year the event also featured Pride in Southwark (established by Living Bankside in 2023) to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and heritage in the area. Festivities included an array of music, performances, and children's activities.

Speaking about the event, Joseph Bonner, Chair of Living Bankside, said: “Living Bankside is pleased to have hosted the Great Get Together SE1 again this year, working across the community to deliver a fun-filled day. This year we expanded to include new elements, including featuring Pride in Southwark and performances in The Scoop at More London and Potters Fields.”

The event was be held in and around Borough Yards, Potters Fields, London Bridge Station, Golden Hinde, Southwark Cathedral and The Scoop, at More London.

Living Bankside is delighted to have worked with local partners including Borough Market, Golden Hinde, Shakespeare's Globe, Southwark Cathedral, Tate Modern and many more.

The event was officially opened by a local resident Joyce who celebrated her 100th birthday and has lived in Southwark all her life.
